Telephone Screening
The first step in the pre-treatment protocol is the telephone screening to help determine whether the CDC is the most appropriate withdrawal management option for you at this time, and/or whether you may require other forms/types of treatment services or treatment settings.
Intake Interview
Where appropriate, you will then be required to complete an Intake Interview in person (in rare circumstances this may be completed over the telephone). This procedure gives the CDC team a clearer sense of the nature and extent of your substance use history, your patterns of substance use, the impact of your substance use on your daily functioning, your addiction treatment history, as well as your reasons for seeking out withdrawal management at this time. Following the Intake Interview, the CDC team will review such information, and where appropriate, you will then be required to have a clinical consultation with our clinical psychologist.
Clinical Consultation
The clinical consultation includes a comprehensive clinical interview, the completion of various self-report clinical questionnaires (paper-and-pencil and computerized versions), and a thorough feedback interview. This process aids in further determining both the nature and extent of your current clinical presentation, as well as providing you with appropriate follow up treatment recommendations, either prior to and/or following detoxification.
Medical Consultation
Following the clinical consultation, and where appropriate, you will also then be required seen by one of our addiction physicians for a medical consultation to review the various withdrawal management options available to you. In some instances, this may also include a review of the possible medication options available to you as an adjunct to your addiction psychotherapeutic treatment.
