Each person deemed to be appropriate for Buprenorphine Detoxification is given complete information with respect to the detoxification procedure, including possible side effects, complications and unanticipated events.

Persons are given ample opportunity to ask questions, obtain information, or decide against proceeding with Buprenorphine Detoxification. They are also given full freedom in deciding whether they choose to proceed with the Detoxification. In choosing the procedure, they will be required to give CDC Written Informed Consent.

In the event that persons are not clear about any of the above, ample opportunity is also given for discussion and explanation to partners, family members, friends, or other representatives. The main aim of such is to obtain a full understanding of, and comfort with, the procedure.
